#1. Diadora Squadra Backpack
The Diadora Squadra Backpack is a very spacious bag with a surprisingly big main compartment, which is zippered. The side pockets are zippered as well, and the mesh pocket for the ball is zippered too. We like that because mesh is durable while light and the zipper secures the ball. There are even belts made of 420-denier nylon with PVC backing, and these further keep the ball secure and keep the bag together.
Other backpack bags do have special pockets for balls, but they are open so there is always a chance for the ball to fall or slip out. Also, the weight of the ball can cause the bag to fall apart over time if its pocket is not fastened securely to the rest of the bag. The shoulders are padded such that they follow the natural contour of the body. As a result, you should be able to bear the weight of the bag even for long periods without feeling any pain.
Finally, the pockets for the shoes are roomy and vented, so your shoes do not have to get soaked in your sweat while you travel home. The Diadora Squadra Backpack is available in different colors.
#2. Under Armour Undeniable Sackpack
We are placing the Under Armour Undeniable Sackpack at the number 2 spot because it is durable and has been tested and proven by many other sports enthusiasts. One of the things that stand out for us is the material they use for the side pockets for valuables. It is a soft tricot material, which is a major plus for us because some of our valuables are quite fragile (We’re looking at you, smartphone with glass exterior!) and the last thing you want is to have them scratched by the material of the bag itself.
We also like the D-ring, which is on the front panel. It serves as an added attachment point, so it gives you flexibility in using the bag. The whole bag is sealed by an adjustable single cord, which is a hit and a miss at the same time. On the one hand, it is easy to use. On the other hand, it is not as secure as a zipper.
#3. Vizari Sport Solano Backpack
We believe that the Vizari Sport Solano Backpack deserves the third spot because its price makes it an ideal first basketball bag for sports enthusiasts. This is also why it is often bought as a gift for young athletes. This is both a good and a bad thing, and we will quickly review that later.
One of the nicest things about this bag is its 600D polyester/jacquard blend fabric. This is a very affordable material but also light and strong. We like the dedicated ball pocket in front, which is made of mesh. According to the manufacturer, the pocket can fit up to a size 5 ball.
We mentioned that the Vizari Sport Solano Backpack is often gifted to kids and teenagers. There is a very good reason for that. We think this bag best matches the needs of youngsters and athletes who do not practice much. If you play a lot of ball, you are better off with a bigger backpack.
#4. KOLAKO Backpack
This KOLAKO Backpack is not just a basketball bag. It can also be used to carry your office things and equipment and gear for hiking and other sports. That said, there are many compartments for different valuables, equipment, and other things. We also like the versatility of the shoulder straps and the spacious main compartment. There is also a separate compartment for your laptop or tablet PC. This pocket can fit a 15.6-inch laptop at most, which is not bad at all.
The one downside we see here is that because it is designed to be multifunctional, that means there is space and some functionalities that are not dedicated to being a full-time basketball bag. For example, we think the USB port is out of place. It can easily get splashed on during a game or a day of hiking.
#5. Under Armour Undeniable 3 Backpack
The first thing you may notice about the Under Armour Undeniable 3 Backpack is its price. It is a little more pricey than many of the basketball backpacks you are likely to come across on the market. However, we think the cost is by all means justified. The Undeniable 3 is durable, strong, and versatile.
In fact, we think there are more people who use this bag for camping trips than mere basketball practice. That says a lot about the capacity and versatility of this bag. The fabric is a blend of nylon and polyester, two of the most ideal materials for sports and outdoors equipment. They are light but very strong and durable.
In summary, we like all that we know so far about this backpack. The only downside we are seeing here is the price, but then again, that is subjective, and for us, it is justified.
#6. Hard Work Sports Basketball Backpack
We like the stylish look of the Hard Work Sports Basketball Backpack. It does not look bulky, unlike many sports backpacks you can find today. You can roll into class with your books and sports clothes in tow without having to use different bags.
The mesh ball holder in front is not zippered but still securely fastened at the top part so the ball remains snug. The shoulder straps are adjustable, the main compartment is big, and the backpack comes with a 100% lifetime guarantee. To us, that says a lot about the workmanship that went into it.
One thing we notice about this backpack is that it does not have as many pockets or compartments as other backpacks at this price point. This is definitely a matter of preference. We are sure there are athletes out there who may prefer it this way, but the point of having a basketball backpack to begin with is knowing exactly where to grab things quickly, which is possible if you have easy-to-find and large compartments.
#7. POINT 3 Road Trip Basketball Backpack
The first thing about the POINT 3 Road Trip Basketball Backpack that caught our attention was its exterior. The backpack has quite a beautiful design. We think it stands out without being overwhelming, and it is universal.
We also like its large opening at the top, which lets you just toss in your gear without having to struggle to get them all to fit through the hole. Its side compartments for shoes are large enough. They can fit up to size 14 shoes.
One of the best features is the mesh bottom. This is where your dirty and sweaty gear are supposed to go. You do not have to stuff them inside together with your clean things. You can always place the dirty clothes in a plastic bag, but it still feels iffy when you think about how your clean and sweaty gear are all pressing against one another.
The one disadvantage that we are seeing right now is that it is available in only two colors. However, this is superficial nitpicking. Black is universal, after all.
#8. NIKE Kyrie Backpack
The color of the NIKE Kyrie Backpack easily makes it stand out. Whether it stands out in a good or bad way, we leave it up to you. We are not into grey, but there are some who love to make a statement.
We have to give it to the Kyrie for having big main and laptop compartments. The laptop compartment is roomy enough for a 17-inch laptop. Meanwhile, the main compartment is spacious enough for a ball and gear. The shoe compartments are big enough to fit size 15 shoes.
Our only gripe is that it does not have a dedicated pocket for the ball. Sure, it can fit inside the main compartment, but balls are dirty. We would rather store them somewhere completely separate from the rest of our things.
For the price, the Kyrie is still not bad. What it lacked (ball pocket), it made up for with extra large compartments in all other areas.
#9. NIKE Hoops Elite Varsity Basketball Backpack
What we like about the NIKE Hoops Elite Varsity Basketball Backpack are its size and its durable material. It is entirely made of polyester, which is lightweight, long-lasting, and sturdy. Polyester is often used in sports and outdoor activity gear because of its strength and capability to withstand the elements and rough usage.
The backpack is large, but there is a catch. There is no dedicated ball pocket, and the shoe pocket is inside the bag. Yes, your dirty, sweaty, and stinky post-practice shoes, your dirty and dusty ball that has been touched by strange hands, and the rest of your things are all supposed to share the inside of the bag.
#10. BAGLAND Sports Backpack
The BAGLAND Sports Backpack is another multi-purpose backpack. You can use it to carry your stuff for your game, class, or work. We like its material, which is apparently high-density canvas that is water-resistant.
The back is interesting. It is padded for support and has a “multi-panel airflow design,” which is meant to help cool your back! More basketball backpacks should have this.
But what really takes the cake for us is the number of compartments. This backpack has a place for everything, which is really the point of buying a basketball backpack.
The only fault we can find is that we do not think the ball pocket in front is secure enough. We feel that over time, due to wear and tear, the sides of the mesh may loosen enough for the ball to just roll out.
Conclusion: We selected the Diadora Squadra Backpack as the top basketball backpack mainly because of how Diadora seems to have taken the most important things into consideration in designing the bag. All in all, we think the backpack is designed to be durable enough to handle all your equipment while keeping itself firmly together. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
